Sarasota ranks No. 2 among best U.S. cities for office investing

Investors looking to buy office properties, buildings and spaces may benefit from looking in Sarasota in 2026, as the city was ranked No. 2 in “The Best Cities for Office Investing in 2026” by LoopNet.

Office markets across the country are in a state of transition as hybrid work and return-to-office trends continue, leaving investors with an important decision about which market to buy in.

LoopNet implemented the methodology of weighing rental income against purchase price, available inventory, office job growth, and building quality.

Sarasota’s results found that it is the second-best market for buying offices in the country, second only to Tucson, Arizona. The top five also include Raleigh, North Carolina, at No. 3, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at No. 4, and Columbia, South Carolina, at No. 5.

Specific factors like standout job growth, high-quality inventory, strong rents for its size and a demand-driven case put Sarasota toward the top.

“Office-using employment grew faster in Sarasota than in all but two other markets in the study, led by gains in the professional and business services sector,” the study says. “While it is a smaller market with fewer overall listings, Sarasota offers strong underlying demand to offset its tighter asset pool.”

In addition to providing the numbers and methodology, the study also lists office, retail and specialty spaces for sale in each of the top-ranked cities.
